Meet the Instructors

Chryssy Potsiou


Dr Chryssy Potsiou is Professor at the School for Rural & Surveying Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, teaching Cadaster, Land Management and Property Valuation. She has 35-year experience in education, training and international capacity building in the fields of Land Management, Cadastre and Land Administration, Land Policy, Property Markets, Property Valuation, Informal Settlements and Informal Development. She was member of the management board of the Hellenic Cadaster (2009-2013). She has been an elected member of the bureau of the Hellenic Association of Rural and Surveying Engineers (2013-2015). She has a 40-years active contribution in the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) especially in the work of Commission 7 (Cadastre and Land Management) and Commission 3 (Spatial Information Management). She was the Chair of FIG Commission 3 (2006-2010), the ACCO representative at the FIG Council (2006-2010), FIG Vice President (2011-2014), FIG Task Force chair on Property and Housing (2012-2014), and FIG President (2014-2018). She cooperates with UNHABITAT GLTN and the WB as consultant in several publications and LAM projects. 

She has a 20-year contribution in UNECE WPLA bureau. She has organized more than 25 international conferences. She has participated in more than 30 research projects as main researcher or coordinator. She has been contributor, co-author or main author of 20 international books, and she has written more than 150 scientific papers.




Steven Nystrom


Mr. Steven Nystrom is a real estate taxation, valuation, and land policy expert with a background in Land Utilization and Economics. He is currently the Principal of Newstream Companies, and Peace By Prosperity. He is the former Chairman of Commission 9 (Valuation & Management of Real Estate) of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG). He has assisted many NGO organizations including the World Bank, United Nations (UNECE WPLA & GLTN), World Citizen Consulting (NGO), ECE, and the International Federation of Surveyors NGO (FIG) and represented the Appraisal Institute 2005 to 2011 and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).



Rik Wouters

Rik Wouters is Director of Eureg Advice, a private consultancy firm in land related matters. From March 2019 until March 2021 he was senior Program Advisor in the Land-at-scale program implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before he was senior land expert at the Netherlands Kadaster since 1998. Between 2008 and 2019 he was vice-chair and bureau member at the WPLA under the UNECE.
